Ruby Minji Hwang, ASW

(pronouns: she/her)

In my practice, I work alongside creatives, highly sensitives, BIPOC/Asian Americans, first and second-generation immigrants, women, and those of LGBTQ+ experience to heal generational patterns, recover from trauma, and step into authenticity.

My approach is informed by holistic approaches including somatic therapy (e.g. Somatic Experiencing), parts work (popularized by IFS/Internal Family Systems), and depth psychology. Through remembrance and embodiment, I invite you to tap into the wisdom of the body and uncover your own unique voice – instead of living out the stories you’ve been told about who you are.

Neuroplasticity reminds us that our minds and bodies are always reaching for healing. I see this therapeutic space as a vessel to allow what’s already happening within us to rise to the surface.

My master’s degree in clinical social work is from Columbia University. I am trained in EMDR and somatic psychotherapy (Sensorimotor/Hakomi) with a Ph.D in-progress in the field of depth psychology at Pacifica Graduate Institute.

Alongside my psychotherapy offerings, I have a dedicated mindfulness practice, a background in comparative mythology, and training in folk medicine.

Please reach out via text or email if you’d like to schedule a free 15-minute consultation – via Zoom or phone.
