One of the effects of trauma is a loss of connection to one’s body, to others, and to the world. In healing with other BIPOC folks in the group, members can begin to feel they are not alone in their experience of trauma. Participants can begin to reconnect through community–centered engagement. This group works toward: expanding awareness of sensations in the body, understanding the physiology underlying trauma and the aftermath of a traumatic experience, trauma experiences unique to BIPOC folks, learning and practicing techniques for soothing uncomfortable emotions and body sensations, and beginning to heal trauma through the body as a complement to other forms of healing.
