She is responsible for conducting individual and couples counseling, providing crisis intervention, facilitating groups, and consulting to project staff. Beth has worked in a number of clinical settings with a range of populations including victims of trauma, individuals with severe and persistent mental illness, clients with personality disorders as well as those with co-occurring disorders. She has a strong commitment to community mental health treatment and is an advocate for the disenfranchised members of our community.
Roozan Varteressian, PhD, earned her Masters in Social Work degree from Boston College in 1981 and her Doctor of Philosophy degree in Clinical Psychology from California Graduate Institute in 1998. For 15 years, Roozan worked as a medical social worker for Kaiser Permanente where she served a wide range of consumers from disenfranchised communities, including people with HIV/AIDS. Prior to that, Roozan provided clinical services to children and their families, including foster children in group homes and at-risk youth. Currently, Roozan serves as the supervising psychologist for a pain clinic. Roozan has received several years of advanced training in relational Gestalt therapy and has served in leadership positions in the local Gestalt community. We are very lucky to have Roozan as a clinical supervisor for our psychology doctoral program students.
Jami Winkel, LMFT, is also our Director of Clinical Training. Jami
maintains a private psychotherapy practice in Bel Air. She relies upon Gestalt therapy theory as a support for integrating the
harm reduction approach into mental health care. She is particularly
interested in using the Gestalt model to promote greater levels of
participation in decision-making and expanded community supports for
her vulnerable clients. Jami has completed four years of training with
the Pacific Gestalt Institute.
